DE ADDICTING GOA – CIVIL SOCIETY MEET – VASCO

“De-addicting Goa” an awareness campaign against alcohol and other addictive substance initiated by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind brought together members of the civil society from around Vasco at Madhur Sandesh Centre Hall on Saturday. All prominent NGO’s,social activist and concerned citizens took part in the discussion towards a co-operative agenda for dialogue and action platform in the cause of “De-addicting Goa”. Mr.Higino  Emedio Rebelo suggested that all are celebrations including family, social and religious should be free of alcohol and he expressed displeasure of the  trend to use  alcohol for any and every occasion. Cmdr Ananthanarayanan, Arun Pandey and other participants were all of the opinion that the Government needs to come with legislative measures to gradually reduce the use of alcohol in Goa. Representatives of the women organization said that the women in the society face all sorts of problems such as domestic violence,eve teasing and sexual abuse due to spread of alcoholism .  Br Asif Hussain introduced the campaign, Br.Asad Shah compered the program and Br Abdul Wahab was the moderator for the open house discussion.
