GST AWARENESS PROGRAMME CONDUCTED BY JAMAT-E-ISLAMI HIND GOA, Mapusa unit.
India has seen a paradigm shift in indirect taxes in this month. The Government has rolled out the ‘Good and Services Tax Act’ from 01st July 2017. In this haste, entrepreneurs are still not fully aware about the functioning of GST and hence, there are lots of misgivings about it.
A large number of businessmen from the community, who are small time contractors and traders, were confused and clueless under the GST Act.
The Mapusa Unit of JIH Goa, felt the need to educate these small time traders about GST and clear their fears and doubts. With this motive, JIH Mapusa took an initiative to conduct a free GST awareness programe with the help of Chartered Accountants.
The programme was held on 20th July, 2017 at the Islamic Centre Goa, Bilwan, Mapusa, Goa. Two Chartered Accountants were invited to give a talk in the seminar.
The Convenor of the programme, Janab Akbar Khan initiated the programme which was followed by an Inaugural address by Janab Samiullah Belwadi. CA. Mohammad Rafik Bepari gave a gist of the previous Indirect Tax Law and spoke on the need of introduction of GST.
CA. Shaikh Irshad Mussa presented a talk on how the GST will function, how traders need to prepare themselves to be ready to fulfill the compliances under GST Act, what options are available to small traders and thus educated them on various aspects of the tax law. CA. Shaikh Irshad Mussa, also addressed the queries of the traders on GST.
The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Janab Riyaz Jamkhani.
