SIO STUDENTS RALLY AGAINST TOBACCO

Sanquelim (11.02.2013): School students in Sanquelim held a rally to create awareness against tobacco addiction. The rally was jointly organized under the auspices of Students Islamic Organization of India (SIO), Goa and Students of Goa Institute of Management (GIM).

Central Goa Area Incharge of SIO, Shaikh Shoaib said that the laws to prevent public smoking and spitting at places are not implemented. School students have an easy access to these addictive substances and are vulnerable to get into the vicious circle, he emphasized. Government should ensure implementation of laws and ban sale of cigarettes and tobacco substances in general stores and around schools.

Student of GIM, Vishaka said that the rally is a part of their project in collaboration with VHAG to create awareness against ill effects of cigarettes and tobacco on human life. She reiterated the need for students to give up such substances.
Students of St. John of the Cross High School and Shree Ganesh Vidyalaya High School participated in the rally which went round the Sanquelim market and concluded at the bus stand.
