5 Day Summer Shade – Teens Camp Held at Margao

Humanitarian Relief Society (HRS) in association with Students Islamic Organization (SIO) of India, Goa Zone Organized the SUMMER SHADE, Teens camp at Gudi, Margao Goa From 27th April to 2nd May 2015.

The Teens camp was able to provide 51 Students from across Goa a fun filled learning environment for 6 Days. The Camp was designed to have multi dynamic learning approach which included Personality Development Activities, Career Guidance & Individual counseling, Sports & Games, Islamic Teaching & Learning. Practical Demos of Islamic Worship, Adventure Activities & Mentoring.

The overall camp was divided into 3 sessions. Morning session was dedicated to in house learning which covered topics like The meaning of Islam, Personality development, Muslim contribution of Muslim to development of humanity, Quran – Source of guidance, Career Guidance, Prophet hood, life of Muhammad (s), Prayer & worship, Maroof & Munkar, Misconceptions about Islam, Applied Islam,  Islamic Leadership and others. Learned speakers & experts delivered their respective topics through lectures, power point presentations and other interactive tools.

The afternoon session was used to organize activities which helped students in their overall personality enhancement. It included Quiz competition, planning activities, time management games, Teamwork games, trekking activity etc. Students were also taken for a visit to old age home to provide them with practical experiences of the plight of elderly people who are abandoned by their children. The heart touching experience motivated the participants to make resolutions on taking care of their respective parents.

The Special focus of the teens camp was mentoring. The evening session was dedicated to mentoring. The students were divided into 5 groups (namely Hazrat Umar Group, Hazrat Bilal Group, Saad bin Abi Waqqas Group, Khalid Bin Waleed Group & Salman Farsi Group) with each group being guided by a mentor. Subjects of discussion during this session were Social responsibility, Real concept of success, Importance of collective efforts for reformation of society, Health & Hygiene, Need for Educational Excellence etc. Students were encouraged to interact in a friendly atmosphere to clarify doubts, share experiences and seek information on diversified subjects .The mentoring session proved to be a very good tool to encourage students to learn Islam & gain knowledge about self improvement in a comfortable environment.

The post dinner session was dedicated to activities like Camp Fire, Cultural programs etc in which the delegates shared humor, ethical jokes, sang Islamic songs, exhibited their dramatic skills & talents.

The camp ended on 2nd May 2015 in which the delegates shared their learning experiences in the feedback session, prizes were presented to winning groups in Quiz, sports, planning & drama competitions.

The camp ended with concluding address by Ameer-e-Halqa JIH, Goa Janab Abdul Waheed Khan Sab who is also the Chairman of HRS, Goa
